They say that the 3 most important things about any successful property is location, location and… location. The right location for your business all too often comes with a big price tag per square metre, meaning that you have to make the most of every centimetre of your premises.

In-bag compactors, capable of reducing waste up to 10:1 while occupying less than 1 square metre of floor space, are one way to free up space that might otherwise be taken up by commercial waste disposal and cardboard disposal. Space that can then be used more profitably for storage or retail. Plastic packaging compactors, cardboard compactors or general waste compactors are also a preferred option by many business owners of keeping their premises tidier. and help to reduce costs.

Once discovered, the benefits of an In-bag compactor used as part of your commercial waste disposal routine can be enjoyed by your staff to save time as well as space. It’s also a valuable tool in recycling paper, plastic packaging and cardboard disposal, and the removal of general rubbish and polystyrene.

The use of good quality compactor bags means that waste can be stored hygienically on site in a smaller space without the need (or cost) of a skip. A smaller volume of waste also means lower transport prices from waste disposal carriers to a recycling plant or landfill site.

Why is a compactor bag important?

For any waste compactor to be effective, the compactor bags must be able to withstand the pressure that is applied to crush the contents. In the case of phs Wastekit’s 5030 bag compactor, the press force is 3 tons – certainly not a force that an ordinary bin liner of around 30mu thickness can cope with!  The last thing you want is for your compactor bags to split or rip, causing rubbish to spill onto the floor.

Compactor bags are engineered to resist tears from sharp contents as well as put up with the high pressures required to compact general waste and cardboard or paper recycling. phs Wastekit is able to supply a range of compactor bags to deal with a variety of different waste materials and compactor pressures. Our compactor bag thicknesses start at 57mu, with various weights up to 90mu compactor bags.

Clear compactor bags are also available in 46mu and 66mu. These are especially useful where waste needs to be quickly identified, for example, rubbish meant for commercial waste disposal vs recycling paper or cardboard disposal.

How do I know which compactor bag to choose?

As mentioned above, your choice of compactor bag depends on the type of waste you’re disposing of and the pressure of the compactor, as well as the weight of the waste material. Relatively soft materials, such as plastic packaging and paper recycling which are unlikely to pierce the compactor bag will not require bags to be as thick as those required for soft metals, like aluminium, for example.

Pay close attention to the size of the compactor bag. Make sure that its width is at least the same as the diameter of the compactor loading aperture. Whichever compactor bag you choose, simply order from phs Wastekit before 1pm for next day delivery.

Compactor bags are not generally used in clinical waste disposal, due to the possibility of sharps and needles cutting through the plastic. In this case, it’s more usual to collect clinical waste uncompacted in clinical waste disposal bags or compacted directly into a bin.
